santri. This fusion of styles reflects the mosque's embrace of
multiculturalism, a growing trend in religious tourism. By incorporating
elements from various cultures such as Indian, Chinese, and Arabic elements
into its design, the Tiban Mosque welcomes visitors of all backgrounds.

and respect different religions. This mosque serves as a testament to the
potential of religious tourism to bridge cultural gaps and celebrate the beauty
of diverse traditions. The Tiban Mosque's walls, adorned with intricate and

Myth vs. Reality: What's the true story
behind the name "Tiban Mosque"?
Construction process of Tiban Mosque
The construction
of the Mosque was carried out by santri who lived in the pondok pesantren on
the same land. They worked hard, starting from making bricks, and mixing cement
to making mosque decorations. All of these processes are done manually, without
using machines or heavy equipment. Since these santri are part of the
pesantren's internal community, the local community may not notice any
construction activities. This might make people think that the mosque suddenly
appeared or was built overnight. However, the
reality is that the construction of this mosque required tremendous time, effort,
and dedication from the students. They did not rely on professional
construction workers or heavy machinery. Everything was handmade, built
manually by them. The Tiban Mosque itself is a symbol of this hard work and
dedication, with an architectural style that combines Arabic, Chinese, and
Indian elements, but also is a testament to the diversity and tolerance that
exists within the pesantren community.

can visitors find on the different floors of the Tiban Mosque (from family

Open space for visitors to relax
People
might think it is just a regular mosque, but it is much bigger and more
surprising. The mosque combines culture (different architectural influences
like Indian, Arabic, Chinese styles), artistic design (detailed carvings,
ornaments), and education (santri learning real-world skills). These mixtures
make the place very special and unique. Each of the 10 floors offers something
new, not just places to pray, but also shopping areas, gardens, and even
educational spaces where visitors can see the lives of the santri (students).
Whether we're
seeking spiritual enlightenment, a cultural adventure, or simply a visually
stunning experience. Prepare to be awestruck by its beauty, inspired by its
multicultural embrace, and touched by the dedication of its santri. “Tiban Mosque presents unique architecture, with
Arabic influences in the calligraphy, Indian touches in the dome ornaments, and
bright colors with symmetrical patterns reflecting Chinese architecture. The
overall design reflects a fusion of global culture with local Indonesian
tastes. Alongside this, “students at the Tiban Mosque are trained to be tour
guides who are fluent in explaining the history, architecture and cultural
values of the mosque to visitors”. Through this training, they not only learn
public speaking, but also become ‘ambassadors of the mosque’ who promote
tolerance, diversity and pride in local culture. Add the Tiban Mosque to your
travel itinerary, it's an unforgettable gem waiting to be discovered.
