Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) is a massive sports complex in Jakarta, Indonesia that serves as more than just a stadium, it is a symbol of the city's sporting history and cultural pride. The construction of GBK commenced on February 8, 1960, in preparation for hosting the 1962 Asian Games. Remarkably, the entire stadium complex was completed in just 2.5 years, opening on July 21, 1962, just in time for the Games. At its inauguration, GBK could accommodate a staggering 110,000 spectators. Over the years, the complex has undergone renovations, including a major one in 2017 to prepare for the 2018 Asian Games. Currently, GBK has a seating capacity of 77,193, making it one of the largest stadiums in Indonesia.

Named after Indonesia's first president, Sukarno, GBK stands as a testament to national pride. The stadium has hosted prestigious international events like the Asian Games and also G20, showcasing Indonesia's ability to compete in international events. The complex itself is a paradise for sports enthusiasts, featuring facilities for a wide range of disciplines, including badminton, swimming (Aquatic Stadium), tennis (Tennis Stadium), archery, hockey (Hockey Field), and baseball (Baseball Stadium). It serves as a training ground for future Indonesian champions and a representation of the country's passion for sports.
